Janice Crummer lived in Southern California until 1983 when she moved to Arkansas. Her training in art was through the California State College system, plus study with a number of private instructors. She has a teaching credential in art, and taught painting and drawing for 12 years in the Rancho Santiago Community College District of California’s Orange County.

Her work is found in Corporate and private collections throughout the country, and has won many honors and awards from juried shows, including Best In Show at Conway’s annual Tri-County Show in 2004, Maumelle’s Sunday With The Arts, and a purchase award from Regions bank. Her wildlife renderings often grace the Arkansas Game and Fish Annual Calendar. She has volunteered at Arkansas’ Pinnacle Mountain State Park, and has designed brochures and flyers for them. She has also painted large murals for the park Visitors Center. She has had shows at St. Vincent’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, and event that showcases Women in the Arts in Arkansas.

Outstanding draftsmanship and use of color characterize her work, which often includes people and animals, frequently in scenes depicting the early part of the 20^th century. Animal portraits are a specialty, which are done as commissions for a large following of patrons. As Past-President of the Conway League of Artists, her work is currently part of the League’s display at Mather Lodge in Petit Jean State Park, and can also be seen at Frameworks Gallery in Conway, at Clinton Florist and Fine Arts, Clinton, and Sage House Gallery in Maumelle, Arkansas. She and her husband live in Vilonia, where she maintains a studio.
