Charlotte Bailey Rierson
Throughout most of Charlotte’s life she has been involved with the arts. She has been on both sides- the promoter of the arts and the artist being promoted. She grew up in Central Arkansas and is a BSE Graduate of the University of Central Arkansas majoring in Art. A few of her art positions include Past President of Mid-Southern Watercolorists and currently the Director of the MSW Regional Advisors, member of the Arkansas Artist Registry, and Arkansas Repertory Theatre Artworks, Board member of the Arkansas League of Artists, and coordinator of the North Central Arkansas Art Gallery for the North Central Arkansas Foundation for the Arts & Education. She likes being involved in the arts and belongs to other art organizations throughout the state and nationally. Some of Charlotte’s awards include 1ST Place Landscape Division in the Arkansas League of Artists Members Show, Arkansas Art Council’s Small Works on Paper Purchase Award, and Best of Show in Mid Southern Watercolorists Fall Exhibition. Her paintings have been selected to be in the permanent collection of the Historical Arkansas Museum, University of Central Arkansas, Clinton Presidential Library, Arkansas Art Council’s Small Works on Paper and Ozark Medical Health Center. She had the privilege of having a painting selected to be exhibited in the Arkansas Art Exhibition that hung in the National Capitol. The painting "Old Town Value’s", is a painting of Leslie’s city park depicting a Boy Scout raising the America flag, an old lady sitting on a bench observing, and the Ozark Heritage Museum’s sign. Charlotte’s love and promotion of the Arts were recognized by the Arkansas Arts Council when she received the Arkansas Art Councils Governor’s Art Award in Community Development of the Arts. 2007-08 a painting was juried into the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion Calendar. In 2008 Charlotte had a painting awarded one of ten Best of Show in The Mustard Tree Productions Prodigal Festival. A painting was juried into the Fall Mid Southern Watercolorist’s Exhibition held at AETN in Conway, she was awarded a 3rd Place in Landscape Category in the Conway Artist’s Leagues Annual Completion, and one painting is touring the state in juried Small Works on Paper sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council. In the fall 2008 she had a One Woman Exhibition at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs. Her paintings may be viewed at the Hot Springs Fine Arts Center, North Central Arkansas Art Gallery and now is represented by Frameworks in Conway. Charlotte says she will always want to continue to grow in the Art-Spirit wherever her journey in life goes.
